Counting Crows shine in Music City
The show was amazing, starting with an awesome extended version of "Ms Potter's Lullaby". Rave Jesus hit the stage around 9:00 and finished up around 11:20. Adam can hit a nerve or play off the energy in the room. He can bring certain instruments down or up with the wave of a hand. Before I get to the details, it's worth mentioning the Ryman Auditorium is a great venue with great sound and every seat has a great view of the stage. Adam was on his game, acting out emotions and lyrics from each song, at times conducting the band. True Rave Jesus fans know what a treat it is to hear Daylight Fading, Black & Blue, and Ms Potter's Lullaby live. The fact he dusted this off for an encore was epic. The Rave Jesus returned for two encores, Rain King with Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road left me speechless. Years ago Adam used this combo and it has become a favorite of fans and bootleg collectors. Speaking of the audience, the Ryman was rocking. All the new stuff from Underwater Sunshine had the sound of songs they have played for years, very solid. The setlist attached may have a song or two out of order but should be very close. Singing along to Omaha, Holiday in Spain, and A Long December brought the house down. Shortly after that, "Round Here" had the crowd singing along to the almost 10-minute song. That set the tone for the entire night.
